About Me:
As an artist I enjoy experimenting with my work through different techniques and mediums since this allows me to express different parts of my creativity whilst learning a variety of techniques. I am particularly drawn to photography since I feel it enables me to capture raw emotions and different atmospheres which can not always be expressed through words. I also like how you can manipulate photos to create different stories within the image. My interests consist of textiles, photography, learning about nature and different cultures, especially how different people live their lives. My dreams and aspirations are to work in a creative industry which benefits and helps others for example improving peoples homes through interior design. |

My chosen images relate to the theme time because each photograph shows and expresses how our body physically changes as we grow older through time such as developing wrinkles, stretch marks, scars etc. For each photo shoot my artistic intention was to show and embrace the physical effects of time from a positive perspective, expressing the beauty that society has labelled as 'imperfections'. As part of my artistic intention I decided to add flowers into different images to portray how like us flowers grow and change throughout time, flowers also symbolise beauty which I wanted to use to show how our 'imperfections' and insecurities are beautiful. To create my Photos I used Photoshop to improve the image quality and to add effects. I changed some of my images to black and white (monochrome) to intensify the atmosphere, increased the brightness/contrast levels, cropped the images and layered photos on top of one another using the quick select and mask technique. To remove common faults such as dark lighting and blurriness I increased the contrast and brightness levels whilst also increasing the sharpness of the image. I have used Photoshop to manipulated selected images since I layered two images on top of one another, blending the two together by changing the blending mode to multiply.
Legal requirements/ethical issues:
Since my photographs consist of close up shots of different models and were taken in private I had to make sure I had the models permission to take photos of them, especially since the subject of my images could be seen as a sensitive.
Health and safety:
For my photos I didn't face any health and safety risks, however I wanted my models to feel comfortable when taking photos of them therefore I allowed them to pose naturally (what felt most comfortable to them) and made conversation whilst shooting.
i enjoyed this process since it taught me how open others can be about their self/body image and how trusting they can be. I also enjoyed experimenting with close up shots which allowed me to see all the different textures and shapes that form within the body organically. The process also allowed me to experiment with Photoshop further, learning and improving my skills which I enjoyed. To improve my photographs further I could try taking more photos of a variety of different people to show and compare how we all age and physically change differently throughout time.

For my scanned Images I have chosen my strongest image from my first Photo shoot which focuses on street photography and catching moments in time rather than how our bodies physically change overtime. To create my scanned image I printed my original photo in monochrome, then painting the background with bold paint strokes to make my model the focal point of the design. I also wanted to create contrast between the brightly coloured background and the monochromatic man, therefore I used bold colours that harmonise with one another.
I then scanned in the painted photograph using a flat bed scanner, changing the settings to JPEG and colour. To experiment with my scan further I then manipulated the painted image by moving it in a wavy motion whilst being scanned. This created movement within the scan which almost mimics the movement seen within the smoke that masks my models face. |

My scanned Image consists of receipts, bus tickets, dried flowers and fresh flowers to represent the everyday activities people do. I chose to include dried and fresh flowers to link in with my chosen photographs whilst symbolising how we age overtime, the fresh flowers representing our youth and the dried flowers representing our old age.
