I am very interested in different fashion, trends and styles that are constantly changing through time. Therefore I have focused on the difference in styles and aesthetics over time periods. My main inspiration was the difference in styles and aesthetics across the vintage and retro era in comparison to today's modern day. For examples modern day styles are cleaner and minimalist, back in the 60s - 90s colours were brighter also inccuding more warm colours then cold. Many photos had a slight grain to it due to the lower quality of technology. Although this is all iconic to these time eras, the vintage and retro aesthetic has come back into interest and popularity over the past year. I love editing photos and playing around with different filters and exposures, currently I really enjoy the look of pictures looking more rustic and almost a bit careless yet giving a strong effect.
My intentions to successfully show the theme of time across my pictures was to edit photos to represent the same styles or quality as photos from the 60s - 90s. Some of these pictures also included iconic props or symbols linking to vintage and retro aesthetics. The most common editing techniques I used included, the filters M5 or F2, I always lower the exposure and if were to change the contrast I would slightly increase it. I also add grain to every photo, as this adds texture and also decreases the quality which represents the technology they had then. All my photos are taken with a NIKON camera or iphone and editied on an app called VSCO. Throughout the process of taking the pictures no safety precautions were needed as no risky objects were in use. As for editing the photos, legal requirements could be to consider using other peoples filters without paying or if any watermarks are shown. The photography ethics applied to this was to make sure that my images were not harmful to the subjects as it is being publicly showcased.
